Unlimited Zengo
There’s a new unlimited brunch in town and it’s at Zengo. Recently, I visited the Chinatown restaurant on a weekend, which is quite unusual since I try to avoid Downtown DC on the weekends. The new $35 unlimited brunch tapas and flavored mimosa’s sparked my interest. The new brunch is available on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 am-2:30 pm. On this particular day, buzz must have just begun to get around because the place was not too crowded. I love making it into a place before it becomes a zoo in trying to obtain a reservation. Zengo has not hit it’s peak yet, but is rapidly climbing so I suggest you make it your biz to get in before reservations become as none existent as they have at the areas most popular bottomless brunches.
My eyes zoomed in on the lobster-chipotle grits and my mouth was not disappointed by the decision. Though I would have appreciated huge chunks of lobster masked in the thick, creamy grits, the smoky flavor made up for the missing crustacean. The salmon benedict fulfilled the benedict obsession I am well known for feeding during a brunch outing. Paired with kimchee and chili hollandaise, it took me away from my typical route with a swift kick in bold spiced flavor. The Pekin Duck is worth the order in your roundup to fullness. Fried egg, pickled onions and Guajillo salsa make this dish a staple on the new Zengo unlimited brunch menu and if you’re not feeling the duck, this dish can be made vegetarian.
As I stated before, get in there now. I have a stinging feeling that this place will have quite a waitlist by the top of the year…
