G.i.V.e.A.w.A.y: Kraut Rocks!
Sauerkraut has become the food of the month. Kraut Rocks showcases sauerkraut as more than a classic fermented cabbage evolving into the must-have menu addition. Top Chef alum and Washington D.C. restaurateur Spike Mendelsohn leads the pack in this month-long culinary experience that puts sauerkraut on center stage. Mendelsohn has assembled a group of progressive D.C. area chefs to showcase Kraut Rocks, selecting the diverse band of five trendsetting chefs because of their culinary knowledge, creativity and innovation. For Kraut Rocks, Mendelsohn has challenged each chef to give sauerkraut, stereotypically a traditional condiment, equal billing among the recipe’s other ingredients. Each chef has created a signature sauerkraut dish to serve at his respective restaurant throughout September. For those of you who want a refresher course in why sauerkraut is an American favorite, Johnna Knows Good Food is hosting a giveaway in conjunction with Kraut Rocks to give you a friendly reminder with a Kraut Rocks Prize Pack.

I’m mostly a traditionalist when it comes to Kraut – served with my Sausage of choice and some nice mustard. But I would like to try some nice pork and kraut dumplings, poached in kraut juice and good stock…
I’m a big fan of Kimchee, and I might also substitute Kraut on top of some spicy noodles….
Nice! I like;-) @Tom
Cook it slooowww and low for two days, with bacon, until it’s nice and creamy.
Ooo trying this!! @Kurt
Yeah Kraut!
