Football season is HERE! For many fans, the food of the sport is as great if not better than the gameplay on TV. From wings and pizza to scrumptious dips, the options for each gathering are endless. Here are some more unique recipes that’ll be the hit of any party. 

Pull-Apart Pizza Bread

Everyone has pizza year-round. You can always change it up some with different toppings. However, another choice is this pull-apart pizza bread. 

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces shredded low-moisture skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1-5-ounce package mini pepperoni bites
  • 3 ounces fresh parmesan cheese
  • ? cup chopped fresh basil
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (flat)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh garlic
  • 2-16 ounce cans refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 cup jarred marinara sauce (warmed)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Stir mozzarella, parmesan, pepperoni, and seasonings in a large bowl. 

In a small bowl, combine oil and garlic.

Drizzle the mixture over the large bowl of cheeses, seasonings, and pepperoni.

Cut the canned dough into quarters and add to the large bowl.

Use a lightly greased bundt pan for baking the “pizza.” Cook for 45 to 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown. 

Buffalo Chicken Pinwheels

Every excellent football party needs buffalo chicken. Here’s a recipe with a twist.

Ingredients:

  • Two cups finely chopped rotisserie chicken breast
  • 1-8 ounce blue cheese (fresh, crumbled)
  • ? cup finely chopped scallions (About three)
  • 3 tablespoons buffalo-style hot sauce
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • All-purpose flour
  • 1- 17.25 ounce package frozen puff pastry sheets (thawed)
  • Blue cheese dressing

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prepare two baking sheets with parchment paper. 

Combine chicken, fresh blue cheese, cream cheese, scallions, hot sauce, and salt in a medium-sized bowl and mix well.

Add flour to a flat surface to prepare the pastry. Spread the mixture evenly across the puff pastry. Roll each section jelly-roll style and pinch the ends to close.

Place baking sheets in the refrigerator and chill for at least 10 minutes. 

Mini Potato Skins

You can’t go wrong with potatoes. Mini Potato Skins make an excellent addition to any party, football, or holiday. Here’s a perfect recipe that won’t disappoint guests.

Ingredients:

  • 1-½ pounds baby dutch yellow potatoes (around 20)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (shredded) 
  • 6 slices of bacon cooked and crumbled
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped chives

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Clean and pat the potatoes dry. Place them in a large bowl and toss with the olive oil. Place the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Line the pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking—Bake for 17 to 20 minutes or until tender.

Allow them to cool completely for 30 minutes.

Next, slice them evenly and scoop out the potato. Make sure to leave about ?-inch of the peel.

Preheat the oven again to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Flip the potato shells, so they face down and bake for 10 minutes. Flip the potato peels again and cook another 10 minutes.

Fill each skin with cheese and top with bacon crumbles. Place them back in the oven until the cheese melts.

Add a small scoop of sour cream to each and sprinkle with the fresh chives.Now that you’ve made your foodie selections for opening day and have the ingredients to start preparing for the big game, it’s time to get started.
