Etiquette Tuesday: The TSA Pat Down For Some Eggs.
There are more places that you should not be patted down in compared to how many places you should be patted down in and one of those is for brunch. Recently, a reader told me about one of their friends who dined out for Easter with family and when asked how it went, the friend said that they were patted down at the door. Patted down over some eggs?! Now I am totally confused on where we should take this Etiquette Tuesday because I feel this should be pretty clear. If we are at a restaurant, there should be no TSA patting down after you hand over your valet ticket.
Now there are exceptions to every rule and one of those includes if there are dignitaries in the building where security could be an issue but how can a restaurant rationalize this in all other scenarios if all they are serving up are some cocktails and entrees. I totally get the clubby places that want to pat down their patrons but this is the part that bothers me most about some places in the District that boast “local fare and fine cuisine”. If you are fine then you are not worried about guns, knives or any other type of weapon entering your establishment and being brandished at the drop of a dime. JKGF suggests reevaluating your guestlist if you want to join the ranks of fine dining establishments in the District. You will never see Ashok Bajaj’s folks patting down anyone at the door.
