Let’s face it.  It is freezing outside!  The only outdoors activities Washingtonians welcome are those involving a DuPont snowball fight or Georgetown’s ice skating rink.  Outside of those and the like, indoors is the place to be every this winter.  Trying to figure out what to do with all this indoor time??  Here are our top picks to stay warm, merry and full of cheer this season:

The Gibson’s Black Friday

The Gibson’s Latest Cocktail Menu: The craft speakeasy is already one of the best places to grab cocktails on any given night of the week.  The recently updated menu only boosts the numerous reasons that even the novice cocktail connoisseur should make this a destination spot.  JKGF picks?  The Hard Knock Life (*named after the 90’s rap favorite from Jay Z), Soda Pop Shop (a fun play on root beer) and Black Friday (the color is beautifully frightening).  Cheers!

iPic: This is absolutely one of the best movie theaters I have ever been to.  Besides the fact that you have luxury reclining seats and blankets to watch the movies, you also have food options that you will not find at your typical AMC Theater.  On our visit, we had Lobster Rolls and craft cocktails.  Let me say that again:  Lobster Rolls.  Craft Cocktails.  Now when was the last (or first time, for that matter…) that you heard this in the same sentence with a movie you saw on the big screen?!  *Crickets*

Garden Harvest Supper Club Cauliflower Soup

The Garden Harvest Supper Club: One of my favorite pastimes is the dinner party.  I love, love, love the concept of getting a few close friends and/or family together for a night of home cooked food and drinks.  The great thing about D.C. is this town always comes up with a way for us to avoid doing any heavy-duty work.  The Garden Harvest Supper Club is Chef Chris Jakubiec, former chef at Plume in the Jefferson Hotel, and Laura Long, of Wit Weddings, brainchild created for groups of 6-16 guests.  Guests are invited to come to the designated location for an evening of garden-to-table cuisine with wine pairings.  The rustic, comfort food approach makes each of Chef Jakubiec’s dishes familiar with a fresh appeal that can only come from a knack for detail and flavor.

Capitol City Brewing Company

DC Brew Tours: Being the non-lover of beer that I am made for an interesting time on the DC Brew Tour.  The.  Best. Time.  Yes, I said it.  I had a blast learning and perusing the menus of some of the areas top breweries.  For a beer lover, this is an absolute must-try tour.  The amount of beer (good beer, that is…), you consume in a four-hour period is worth the trip alone in addition to the knowledgeable tour guides.  Trekking from Port City Brewing to Capitol City Brew Company to Chocolate City Beer and finally to DC Brau was the perfect way to get another perspective of this area.  The DC area is truly one of the top hubs for trying the best hops, brewskys or whatever you want to call it in the U.S.
