Appetite: A Gastronomic Experience
When you think of the Strathmore, you probably don’t think of a gastronomic experience, perhaps more along the lines of the latest concert you would like to attend. However this weekend, foodies and groupies alike prepare yourself for a rollercoaster of excitement. Starring Andrew Zimmerman of Bizarre Foods and Food Network’s darling Giada De Laurentiis, this is an event not to be missed.
Appetite Festival Breakdown
Food—With celebrity chefs in the house such as Todd Gray, Jose Andres, and Robert Wiedmaier there will be no shortage of star struck moments; however, for those who are low-key check out the plethora of food trucks within the Food Truck Court as well as a Craft Beer Garden on the Bou Terrace.
Drink—In addition to the Craft Beer Garden, a happy hour will occur both Friday and Saturday from 5-7pm. If happy hour doesn’t suit your taste, then make sure not to miss the Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s wine and charcuterie pairing. Cocktails are available during the entirety of the affair.
Entertainment—When I saw that the 19th Street Band would be performing, I became super excited. You should too, as this band knows all of the latest tunes including oldies but goodies. Yet, your selection isn’t limited. Choices like Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band, Israel & Morris Newgrass, and Victoria Vox will have you up out of your seat.
Art—There is a fine art gallery onsite, however check entry times as the main festival will overshadow anything else going on this weekend.
