Visiting Cape Cod for the summers is a pastime to many East Coasters.  Having Mum’s side of the family situated near the Outer Banks, however, left me with little reason to venture further up north versus further down south for beach time.  When the opportunity arose to visit Sea Crest Beach Hotel before all the regulars headed up for their usual summer excursion, I took the trip into Boston to begin a weekend in the Cape.  Situated about an hour and 15 minutes from Boston Logan International Airport, Sea Crest is a true escape from the hectic life of an East Coaster.  Who knew there was a secret stretch of beach waiting for Johnna to bask in all its glory?!

Now for the Top 10 reasons to visit Sea Crest Beach Hotel from JKGF:

Old Silver Beach

1.  The beach is private and gorgeous.  Gorgeous in the way you would envision a New England waterway:  beach fences, rocky inlets and cottage style houses.  Plenty of photo opts on Old Silver Beach.
2. The rooms.  I cannot speak for all of the rooms but I can speak for the one that I stayed in, which had a front and back door.  The back door leading directly onto the beach and with a patio for seating.  Relaxation? Yes, please.
3. Water sports.  For those of us who like a little adventure during a getaway, the resort has everything from jet skis to wind surfing lessons.
4. Everyone is welcome.  Singles, couples, families, friends and basically anyone you want to take a quick getaway with will feel welcome on the property.  Having visited as a couple, we appreciated not feeling alienated based on the fact that we did not have children.  We saw all kinds of combinations of guests throughout the resort.
5. Convenient.  Besides being a little over an hour from the airport (which for those that have not been to the Cape, this is a good thing!), it was a 10-15 minute drive to restaurants in North Falmouth, West Falmouth and Woods Hole.
6. The beach bar.  The beach bar offered a chill vibe elevated slightly above the beach scenic views.  The beach bar menu, however, needs some drastic upgrades.  Living in the District has me spoiled to the many tricks that mixologists have at the bars so the selection at the beach bar was one of the more disappointing parts of the trip.
7. Omelets.  I am a sucker for omelet bars at buffets.  For some reason they do not taste the same when you do

   not see them make it in restaurant.  Sea Crest offers you the fresh made omelets and waffles with all of my favorite things including sprinkles.  Yes, I said sprinkles.

8. Excursions.  In addition to be positioned in a location that is 10-15 minutes to everything you want to do on vacay, the location of the resort allows you access to a nearby ferry to Martha’s Vineyard.  A 45 minute ferry ride and you are on the Vineyard, which is where I strongly suggest you eat lots o’ fudge, have a drink on the balcony at Lampost and catch a game at Coop de Ville (*Tell the owner I sent you!).
9. The staff.  Before you start thinking/saying/wondering whether I am vouching for the staff because I got the royal treatment as a food blogger visiting the property.  No, not the case at all.  I actually remained incognito much of the trip to get a better view of what it would be like to visit as a normal guest.  Everyone I encountered was genuine and helpful.
10. The escape.  Visiting Sea Crest was the first time I felt the urge to take a long walk on the beach.  Maybe it was the crisp breeze that is hard to find on most beaches in this country during the summer months or perhaps it was the feeling that everyone around me was there to purely relax that made the trip feel like an absolute escape.  The culmination of the 10 things listed above is, however, are the reason I will be back for round two at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel.
