Commercial Restaurant Equipment Checklist
Running any business requires you to have a good business plan, the right attitude, some customers and, of course, the right equipment.
If you’ve chosen to run a restaurant or any other catering type business you must have the right equipment before you start; you can’t simply make do.
That’s why it is so important to plan before you start your business. Not only will you figure out what you need you’ll also be able to establish the budget that is required and put an appropriate plan into place.
Here is the equipment you’ll need to start and run your commercial restaurant:
Range
This is the heart of your commercial kitchen. The range allows you to cook any meat to perfection in a very short space of time.
Oven
You can’t run any kitchen without n oven; you’re bound to need to bake a tasty dessert or something similar.
Grill
Another essential item to ensure your meat and other food are cooked properly. This is the bit you’ll probably use the most.
Deep Fryer
Unless you’re offering a very healthy menu you’ll need a deep fryer in your kitchen. This will be used for French fries and a wide variety of other delicacies.
Cooler
You have to keep the ingredients you’re not using somewhere. A cooler is the usual spot as it prevents bacteria from multiplying.
You can opt for a walk in cooler or a chest style one. You can even have both styles if you wish. The cooler extends the life of your food which is important when trying to over a varied menu.
Freezer
Some items need to be kept in the freezer. Again you can have a walk in or a chest style freezer. Both are effective at freezing products and extending their life until your need them.
Pans
One item that is often overlooked is the pans. These are essential for cooking all the different ingredients and creating your signature dish.
Crockery
Alongside the pans you’ll need crockery and serving spoons. After all your customers need something to enjoy their food on and to eat it with!
Serving Dishes
If you need to display food in the middle of a table then you’re going to need some serving dishes. These should be big enough to house the food for a while table; that’s not the same as the dishes you use at home.
Washing Equipment
Another thing that is often overlooked is the washroom supplies. You may not think of it as essential for a commercial restaurant; but it is.
People need to know that the pots and pans are clean and well looked after; as are your hands after you visit the toilet or handle non-food related items.
Other pieces of essential commercial kitchen equipment include:
- Baking pans
- Mixing bowls
- Tongs
- Pizza paddle
- Whisks
- Cleaning rags
- Rubber floor mats
- Hand sanitizers
- Fire extinguisher – although you hope you’ll never have to use it.
