The Taste of DC (www.TheTasteofDC.org) will take over Pennsylvania Avenue this upcoming Columbus Day weekend, Saturday, October 8 and Sunday October 9, 2016. The Mid-Atlantic’s largest culinary festival, established in 1989, will bring to America’s Main Street two days of the region’s food, drink and entertainment.

WHAT:

Attendees will be able to sample from more than 60 of the region’s most popular restaurants, taste over 50 brews in the Bier Garten, try more than 50 wines on the Taste of DC Wine Walk and enjoy nonstop entertainment on three different stages. Among the restaurants:  Todd Gray’s Equinox, Mastro’s, Ben’s Chili Bowl, Carmine’s,  District Doughnut, Sloppy Mama’s, Tortilla Coast,  Texas Jack’s Barbecue, Capital Grill and Barrel & Crow.

On Saturday, October 8 The 6th Annual Ben’s Chili Bowl’s World Chili Eating Championship will bring defending champ Joey “Jaws” Chestnut back to challenge some of the country’s best competitive eaters for this exclusive-to-DC World Champion title.  The competition takes place on the Taste of DC Main Stage.

In a new feature both days, MGM Lounge will feature appearances from celebrity chefs José Andrés and Bryan Voltaggio, whose restaurants will be part of the exciting new MGM National Harbor venue opening in December.

PRICE: General admission and packages start at $20 per person. Children age 12 and under $10; children under 5 free.

Each Tastemaker Plus ticket offers entry into the VIP tent and one of five curated, expert-led programs that pair wine, beer, and spirits with high-end comestibles.  100 seats are available for each session.

Women of Washington 2 p.m. Saturday

Join local craftswomen who busted through the boys’ club to learn where the food and spirits industry is heading. Listen to a local female distiller, bartender and chef spill the secrets behind their burgeoning businesses, and be blown away by the ambrosial flavors infused into their signature fare.

“Shucking Shots” 4 p.m. Saturday

Sip Skyy vodka and savor oysters paired to entice your palate. Under the guidance of a mixologist, learn how cocktails can complement the ocean’s aphrodisiac and bring out its flavorful notes.

50 Shades of Rosé 6 p.m. Saturday

Give in to temptation and feast upon a decadent spread of mouth-watering aphrodisiacs. Irresistible couplings of oysters, chocolate and a crisp flirty Rosé make for the perfect romantic pregame that will bring pleasure to both couples and singles alike.

Brew-B-Que 1 p.m. Sunday

Throw down for an all-American bash of beer and BBQ in the heart of the Nation’s capital. Gather your crew to go whole hog with a local smokehouse and enjoy local brews while watching grill masters prep and cook an entire pig in a barbecue lover’s paradise.

Taste of New Zealand 3 p.m. Sunday

Discover the taste of New Zealand through a guided tour with a gastronomical emissary. Sample wines from the Gibbston Valley’s lush countryside matched with traditional Kiwi cuisine, and tantalize your taste buds with an array of flavors only the Southern Hemisphere can provide.
