Shophouse: Taste Test this Summer
If you love Chipotle, you will love Shophouse. Imagine Chipotle, but with SouthEast Asian ingredients. Designed on the Chipotle concept of build your own bowl, you start with rice, noodles or salad. The protein is flavorful meat consisting of grilled chicken satay, steak lamb, pork & chicken meatballs, or tofu. The vegetables consist of kale, charred corn, eggplant or green beans. For finishing toppings, you top it off with a yummy sauce and garnish.
Shophouse cares a lot about their food. Everything they prepare are gluten, wheat and dairy free. The ingredients are fresh, well seasoned and are of good portion. The line is always out the door during lunch, so you may want to have an idea of what you want so you are not holding the line up.
For those with a sweet tooth, try the coconut rice and mango parfait. If you love mangos and sticky rice, you’ll like this dessert. It’s small but tasty.
Spring vegetables have returned and ShopHouse’s have brought back two seasonal favorites: Kale with chilies and vinegar replaces collard greens, and Eggplant with Thai basil and garlic replaces parsnips for the spring season.
Let’s hope they expand and keep this trend up. We could use the change around these parts.
