Recap: Beer, Beer Everywhere!
It was Disneyland for Beer Lovers! Over 15 local breweries, food, music and four different liquor flavored Cigars (Whiskey, Scotch, Rum and Bourbon) at the Mid-Atlantic Spring Beer Festival! THE CHALLENGE was to taste all the new and “vintage” beers from our local breweries. For 30 dollars, you get ten drink tickets and a very cool lanyard to wear around your neck that propped and held your beer close to your chest. There was a table in the middle of all these brewers to purchase more tickets for a dollar. Each brewing company had two to three different beers on tap. Some you knew well and others were new brews. How could you drink them all…? Some tried, I’m sure. I was only able to get through four (maybe) of the brewing companies and I’m a beer lover! The set up was perfect, because there were plenty of “watering hole” stations, where you could drink water, or wash the previous beer out. The food tables were placed perfectly next to watering holes, with food that usually goes well with beer. Smoked dogs on big fat buns, fries or tators, and wraps galore. The 2nd annual event was well planned, well executed and as far as my eye could see, well received.
Thanks to the coordinating staff of Capital City Brewing Company, Olivier Le Ru-Riboulet, Brand Marketing Manager, Matt Benkert, Director of food and Beverage, Kristi Griner, Director of Brewing Operations, Al Chadsey, General Manager and Matt Ryan, Brew Master, for ceasing, managing and hosting this annual event. It was a bang up job! Congrats to the Cap City Team! Let’s look forward to next years event…hopefully it will be a little warmer, but then again, cold weather never stop the beer from flowing.
