Zaytinya 6th Annual Greek Easter Festival
José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup and the culinary team at Zaytinya invite Washingtonians to join them for the sixth annual Greek Easter festival. Throughout the two-week celebration, the team at Zaytinya will be paying homage to one of Greece’s greatest celebrations of food, music and festivity.
WHEN: The two-week event will run from April 20 through May 3, 2014. Zaytinya is open Sunday and Monday, from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 a.m.

WHY: Greek Easter is a celebration beginning on Greek Orthodox Palm Sunday and culminating theSunday after Easter, the day of Saint Thomas. Rich in heritage, this is a time for families to honor the rebirth of spring. The holiday is considered one of the most sacred celebrations and is observed through religious ceremonies and festive gatherings overflowing with traditional dishes. Easter dishes, such as those to be served at Zaytinya, play a significant role and many are exclusively enjoyed during this special time.
