After the Weekend…Paella!
Along with the heat, summer brings the annual celebration of Spain’s favorite culinary tradition, Paella. From July 29ththrough August 11th, José Andrés and his culinary team at Jaleo will celebrate the eleventh annual Paella Festival with a two-week event featuring a variety of paella specials, as well as a signature watermelon-tomato cocktail that will be available during lunch and dinner service. This year’s recipes are being created by Jaleo’s Restaurant & Development Chef Ramón Martínez and Jaleo DC’s Head Chef Paul Yeck. Prices range between $38 and $70, and each paella serves from four to six people.
Guests can look forward to Arroz de Verduras de Temporada, a traditional seasonal paella; Arroz Ibérico (con Costilla Ibérica), paella with acorn fed Iberico pork ribs and artichokes; Arroz Meloso de Verduras con Bacalao, creamy Spanish cod and vegetable paella; and Arroz Seco on Pichon, a wood pigeon paella among others. The Paella Festival will take place at all three locations and a kickoff celebration will be held at Jaleo Crystal City on Monday, July 29th from 6 to 8 PM. Here guests will enjoy complimentary paella samples while watching a cooking demonstration of this savory dish. The kickoff event is open to the public and space is limited. Reservations can be made by visiting rsvp@jaleo.com.
