Del Campo: South American Cuisine
Meat lovers in the District should check out one of Chinatown’s newest restaurant family members. Del Campo offers authentic South American cooking to its patrons. When you visit this restaurant, you allow your taste buds a little reward by feasting on something you would not find on your everyday, run-of-the-mill menu. I was pleasantly surprised when I had their beef heart for the first time. Now this is not something I would have automatically ordered had I just walked in and saw it on the menu. My mind has been changed, I will be ordering it from now on. It is one of those dishes where someone could tell you, “Don’t knock it ’till you try it!” and what do you know, they are totally right. The meat was tender and consistent, and paired with the yucca, it was filling meal. If you are not feeling adventurous, you can try some of their other meat offerings, which are comparable to their sister beef heart in flavor and tenderness. On top of great food, the decor certainly will grab your attention. It has quite a bit of sex appeal for date night or if you just want to go to the bar for a few drinks. With all the hustle and bustle in Chinatown, Del Campo is bringing the relaxing vibe along with unique treats to help you unwind after a long day at the office. Worth a try!
