Chris4Life’s 1st Celeb Chef Cook-Off
This past Tuesday was the first annual Eat4Life Cook-off event promoted and presented by DC’s own Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation. In addition to generating awareness to assist those who have been diagnosed and make others knowledgeable, the foundation is also working on discovering a cure for the disease in order to eliminate it entirely.
The Eat4Life event showcased four top chefs from premiere restaurants in the metropolitan area: Chef Allen Javery from Scion, Chef Juan Argueta from Crios Modern Mexican (where the event was held), Chef Rock Harper from Fat Shorty’s & DC Central Kitchen, and Chef Scott Drewno from The Source. Each chef had their own station in order to create delicious colon- and cancer-friendly dishes for guests to taste and incorporate into their regular meal options. I can honestly say that while I’ve always been a girl who lives by the “everything in moderation” motto, I was thoroughly impressed and tasting their dishes actually inspired to me to eat healthier for my own benefit.
This month is National Colon Cancer Awareness month so for the rest of March Chris4Life will be celebrating survivors and those who lost their battle. As someone who’s close to an outstanding stage 4 colon cancer survivor and the granddaughter of an amazing woman who lost the battle to another form of it, this cause is very dear to my heart. Promoting awareness, eating right, and getting screened are of the utmost importance. It was a true pleasure to personally come out to support Chris4Life’s mission this week along with celebrating the lives of others enjoying amazing food. So as the Chris4Life campaign says, love your butt. Don’t just love your butt, though, go love your body inside and out. Eat for your life. Go be aware.
