Assaggi Osteria Celebrates Day III
Day three of the Johnna Knows Good Food Five Year Anniversary continues with a giveaway to eat Italian. Why Italian? Besides lobster, Italian food is an obsession that will always keep my carb calories up. This is a fitting giveaway for JKGF because anyone who truly knows me, knows I will travel for food. Though I have not made my trek to Ethiopia to date for my other fave cuisine, when I heard about how a trip to Italy would change your view of Italian food in America, I booked my flight immediately. I had to taste the pasta for myself and see if it would force a change of heart on a girl that has eaten at some of the top Italian restaurants in the area.
Indeed Italia is the place to be for the pasta lover in you. I do, however, understand that booking a trip to Italia on a craving is simply not feasible in all instances which is why I am happy to bring Italia to TWO lucky readers in today’s giveaway. Assaggi Osteria in McClean, VA is led by Chef Domenico Cornacchia, formerly of Cafe Milano. Chef Cornacchia has brought ancestral Italian cooking to the Washington area with a variety of traditional Italian favorites. The menu boasts whole fresh fish which is sourced from sustanible resources around the world, the use local produce and ALL of the desserts are homemade.
If you have visited any of Chef Cornacchia’s operations (Sette Osteria in Dupont, Assaggi Mozzarella Bar in Bethesda), then you know he is skilled at authentic fare. If you have not had the opportunity to taste his talents then here’s your opportunity. Comment below with what you are most excited to taste on Assaggi Osteria’s menu and you are automatically entered to win one of the TWO $50 gift certificates to Assaggi Osteria. The winners will be selected at midnight tonight.

I’d love to try the Cozze antipasta – I love both mussels and fennel and think they would be delicious together.
I’ve heard good things about Burrata and I’d want to try Tortelli because I love broccoli.
I’d feed my love of pasta and seafood with the spaghetti with Manila clams, white wine and fresh chili peppers. 🙂
The gnocchi with pumpkin sauce sounds great! Although so does the bistecca too…
