Who’s Ready to Play Bocce?
Vinoteca already has standing room only for their weekend brunch, but their bocce court will make it hard to get in this place at any given time. A sport that encourages more libations for better scoring and onlookers have the opportunity watch while dining on Vinoteca’s small bites, bocce sounds like DC’s newest fave hobby. Due to the fact that happy hour is already scheduled in the typical Washingtonian’s diet alongside some competitive activity, bocce allows these two to meet in the middle somewhere between 5 pm to 8 pm. Chef Lonnie Zoeller’s menu matches perfectly with the simplicity of bocce, where it features local, fresh ingredients presented in a simplistic manner. Horus Alvarez leads Vinoteca’s bar program with an extensive selection of ingredients, including my new favorite dry Gin, The Botanist, to help you lead with the winning score in a bocce rematch. Stick close to the Botanist, the 63 degree egg and the ‘Tom Thumb’ greens. I cannot guarantee a win in bocce but I can guarantee you’ll have a good meal and cocktail in transit.
