This weekend yours truly will join the areas top chefs and celebrities for Stuff the Bus.  Stuff the Bus is a mobile fresh food drive that will benefit DC Central Kitchen and is hosted at each stop by the areas top celebrities including Chef Mike Isabella, Darrell Green and ABC’s Cokie Roberts.  The food drive begins this weekend @ the H Street Festival and concludes @ Truckaroo on Friday, September 30, 2011.  I am asking any and everyone to stop by the truck during that time and either bring a donation from home or buy produce from the virtual store at the bus.*  Additionally, for every person who downloads Venga (*free and takes <30 secs to download) during the food drive, Venga and Monster.com will donate a fresh food meal (*$2.50 for every download which is the approximate cost of the meal).  I will host the bus on its first stop on Saturday, September 17, so definitely stop by to meet me and most importantly donate.

Can’t make it out on Saturday?? Then visit Stuff the Bus and look for the “Donate Now” button.  During checkout, in the “How did you hear about Stuff the Bus?” section, don’t forget about me: Fill that part in with “Johnna of Johnna Knows Good Food”.

*Virtual Store Donation: For example, a $5 donation to DCCK means they will be able to buy a ½ dozen heads of hydroponic lettuce, $10 = 1 free rang e roaster chicken, $25 = 1 case of plump Shaenandoah Valley tomatoes, and $50 = 80 servings of pasture raised, hormone free, local ground beef.
