*Somebody important has a birthday looming. No, I’m not talking about myself this time, I’m talking about our President. President Obama celebrates his 50th birthday tomorrow (Gosh, he soo young!). To celebrate the big 50, Z Burger is serving up 50¢ burgers and milkshakestomorrow to all visitors who mention the magic words to the cashier: “Happy Birthday Mr. President”. Looks like they have their political science down.

*Social Safeway is at it again and this time it involves Sangrias. Georgetown’s acclaimed “Social” Safeway is hosting a Sangria & Spanish Cheese Tasting event on Thursday, August 11, 2011 (6pm-8pm). This event is Free but you must RSVP by August 10, 2011 by emailing georgetownsafeway@gmail.com.

*Smith Commons will host DC Beer Week from August 17-20. Specials will include $5 pints, $15 bombers and $5 regionally themed small-food pairings.

*SAX has an extended restaurant week which will run through September 17. Tack on a bottle of sparkling wine for just $40.11.
