Etiquette Tuesday: Pushy or Mistaken?

This Etiquette Tuesday, I point you all to one of my new fave blogs, Serverchat.  There are two sides to every story and since I spend most of my time on the diner side, I thought it was time to see the other side of the field, the server’s view.  Some many, many years ago I waited tables, worked in customer service and needless to say, I had a strong disdain for it.  Having to cater to the bad personalities is mostly why I left, but the good ones made it worth the while.  This week’s tip talks to the server about the infamous check:  Refrain from being to pushy.  Serverchat addressed this issue on March 2, 2011, so I will not reinvent the will.  I will say, however, for the diner try not to take it too personally when the server comes for that check.  There is a thin line between being pushy and simply making a mistaken assumption that you’re done with dinner and it’s time for the check.  Both of us are coming into this situation from all different paths, let’s consider that before jumping off the deep end about the little things…
