Get Healthy, Give Back
–Dining Out for Life is this Thursday (March 10, 2011). By dining out at one of the 140 participating restaurants found here, you will instantly make a donation to Food & Friends, an organization dedicated to providing daily home-delivered meals to those fighting life-threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and cancer.
-Want to give back but low on the cash to head out to a full blown dinner? Well Roti Meditarranean Grill is hosting a Free Lunch Day this Thursday from 11 am to 1:30 pm and any voluntary donations will go directly to DC Central Kitchen. Customers will receive a free sandwich, salad or Mediterranean plate (*must be in line by 1:30 pm).
-Get healthy at the grocery store. Whole Foods Market of Alexandria is hosting the Healthy Eating Supper Club on March 10, 24 and 31 at 6:30 pm. The Supper Club event includes cooking demos and discussions about healthy eating choices and healthy lifestyle choices. Event is FREE but you must email Kimberly.Bryden@wholefoods.com to sign up (*20 person max).
-Speaking of healthy grocery store convos, Social Safeway will host a special nutrition talk and cooking demo on March 19, 2011 from 1-2:30 pm. Fitness experts Josef Brandenburg and Natillie Rauch, co-owners of The Body You Want Fitness Training Systems, will be provide tips on how to incorporate good nutrition practices in your busy schedule.
