Food.Fun.Stuff: Made For TV
My show. I am finally talking about the live version of Johnna Knows Good Food. Inspired some years ago by Lauren DeSantis of The Capitol Cooking Show, I decided TV would be another way to share my love of food with everyone. Funny, this show comes after a few shows where I made tons of mistakes, was way to nervous and now finally understand how hard it is to cook on television (*my hat tilts to all those that do this for a living). I love it! For my first episode “The Single Persons Dinner” I focused on simple (*too easy dishes) guacamole, tofu stir fry and a basic pesto sauce.
Why such easy cop-outs you might ask? Well, let me tell you a little about a cooking show. When you are doing this all on your own, you have to bring all the supplies, food/ingredients and clean up after, in addition to decorating your set (*mines is super basic) and being your own director. I decided sticking to the basics was the safest and best way for presenting…in the beginning, that is. I’m a work in progress and am pleased with this new endeavor…it is mounds of work but the reward is amazing. I get to share my recipes, passion and ideas with more than just the DMV now. The following cities also get a taste of my thoughts now:
New York (Manhattan Neighborhood Network)
Wednesday, June 30 at 5 PM, channel 67
Tueesday, July 6 at 8:30 PM, channel 67
Monday, July 12 at 7:30 PM, channel 56 (*Wish you could have seen the text messages from my family and friends on this one…lol)
Herndon, VA (COX Communications-channel 23 and Verizon FiOS-channel 42)
Mondays @ 10:00 AM and Wednesdays @ 7:30 PM
Chapel Hill, NC (The People’s Channel)
June 25, 2010 (*Fridays @ 4 pm)
Fairfax, VA (Channel 10)
July 2, July 6, July 12, July 14, July 17, July 19, July 20, July 23, July 24, July 26 July 28 and July 31 (*tomorrow*)
I know, I suck. Most of these dates have passed and the show has aired but there is still one more chance to catch it: tomorrow! It airs tomorrow on Fairfax Public Access, Channel 10, at 9:30 am and 5 pm. (*DVR, people!) I would love it if you could tell me what it’s like if you’re in Fairfax (*DC air-times coming soon) but if you cannot catch it, this is only the beginning of a lovely relationship…you, me and the kitchen, let’s go!
